Soureene Tea Estate is over 100 years old, but it does not have the colonial heritage. This was a tea garden which once belonged to a Nepali contractor who had to finally hand over the property to the Tiwaris of Kurseong in order to settle a large amount he had to repay. Subsequently, the tea estate went through changes of ownership and now belongs to Titagarg Wagons Limited, a company which has a business with the Indian Railways. Sourenee tea estate is located about a 1 hour drive from Bagdogra airport and about 1 hour 20 minutes from NJP railway station. The journey to this estate passes through various tea estates and is a smooth ride on the Siliguri - Mirik - Darjeeling route.

Sourenee has however managed to overcome the lack of British heritage by building an attractive 3-storeyed luxury bungalow type resort. It combines the old world charm with modern amenities which offers an elegant and upscale stay right amidst the tea gardens with sweeping views of tea bushes on slopes of the hills, Mirik valley, mountain landscapes and even sights of Nepal. Additional activities include a day trip to Darjeeling covering Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the high altitude Zoo, toy train joy ride etc.
